Sudden loss in SERPS!

My site has been ranked on page 1 for a hot keyword for sometime now and suddenly over past few days, my site is nowhere found for that keyword. I've not made any changes to my site.My Pagerank has not changed.Is there some kind of penalty involved? What can I do about it? Tks.
