How do frequent updates effect google indexing?

Hi I noticed that sometimes my blog is being indexed rapidly. For a new post in 10 minutes the page shows up in google. Other times it takes a day or two. I think the reason is that google bot comes back when I am making alot of frequent posts, but if I only make a new post once a week then...
