external hard drive not recognized

Ok, so I did the clumsy thing and knocked my Seagate 1.5 TB External HD 10cm to the ground. It made some funny sounds and stopped functioning. After waiting some time, I reattached it. It made the funny noise for 5 minutes then the noise stopped. The computer said usb mass storage device attached...
