my pc going hangs..takes lots of time in responding

hi, My PC takes a lots of time in responding .. if i access any file or folder it takes 5 mins to open..also when i do defrag.. it also say u can't defrag ur drive as it has not a reasonable space..!! so tell wat to do..i want my pc performance back ..!! Thanx
