Cloned Harddrive not directly bootable

Compaq Presario 1255, successfully running Windows 2000, despite Compaq stated limitation of W95, W98, WMe. After Upgrading original 4.3gb hard drive to 10.6Gb cloned hard drive, Larger drive will not boot directly, but is accessible by first booting to floppy... Thanks for any suggestions...
