Google penalty - 130 to 700 positions back

Hi, Has anyone else suffered a Google penalty pushing their site back to position 130 - 700 in the SERPs? It doesnt seem to correspond with previous discussion that typically describes a penality as being usually 30, 50, 60 positions back... Any thoughts? Anyone have/had a similar penalty?
