Simple Problem in Visual Basic

I have JUST started learning basic (as of TODAY, actually) and I get the "basic" gist of it

but i have looked everywhere and cannot find out how to make the program do something without the user doing anything. i'm sure it's a simple <div class="codeblock"> <div class="spaced"> <div>
