Can't get [pass error message on Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop

I'm at my wit's end! Reset and restart but can't get past "SYstem BIOS Shadowed, Video BIOS shadowed." "ESC" does not redirect; "F2 - Set Up" stops there; and "F12 - LAN ..." stops there. Also, I hear a clicking noise under the keyboard. I've removed and replaced the battery> I've hit the reset...
