CD/DVD Non recognition of disc loaded

I have two cd/DVD drives, both have power and both draws operate (close/sshut) My computer recognises both of them as E and F drives but will not acknowledge any loaded disc, constantly asking to 'Pleas insert a disc into drive 'x' ' All helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
