Google doesn't recognize backlinks

[SEO]

Why would Google only recognize 4 of our backlinks when Yahoo has 801? No inner page links are recognized by Google and there are a boatload of them. I could use a referral for a great someone who knows SQL, Google ranking, and successful, well ranking real estate listing website creation. We have a 5 year old site and I think we have serious structural problems beyond our ability to diagnose. We also have 2-3000 pages, many optimized, and Google has cached only 140 after all this time. The site has been languishing as we get sick of beating our heads against the wall working and spending money galore and still rank somewhere in the millions. Any suggestions?
