Hangman in Watom pascal

Hi, im making hangman in watcom pascal and i need some help i have counted how many letter the word is, but now i need to replace the word with something like *, so that it is hidden to the user, but when they guess a letter it turnes the * back into the letter, or something along those lines. ...
