Inspiron white screen on booting

Hello, I plugged in a PS2 mouse to my Inspiron 8000 laptop which made the system freeze but when i rebooted all I got was a white screen. No HDD activity or HDD light. More or less dead other than a white {off white} screen. There have been no problems previously. I guess something has been...
